About the event
The City of Federal Way is hosting a recycling event for Styrofoam and plastic bags, wraps, and films, along with confidential document shredding February 24, 2024 10:00am – 2:00pm. So start saving up these items to recycle properly for free locally at the South King Tool Library! 1700 S 340th Street, Federal Way, WA 98003
Accepted Styrofoam: • Clean white blocks • Styrofoam sheeting • Cleaned Styrofoam cups, food trays, and meat trays • Peanuts (only accepted if in a separate container) To identify Styrofoam look for the #6 or “EPS” inside a recycle symbol NO foam insulation, hot tub covers, urethane foam cushions, insta-pak foam, dirty or wet #6 styrofoam or any other plastics. NO commercial quantities accepted.
Accepted Plastic Film:
Soft plastics ONLY. Some examples include grocery bags, bubble wraps, film wraps, product overwrap like for paper towels and dry cleaning, breads and produce bags, mailed item packaging. NO HARD PLASTIC MATERIALS WILL BE ACCEPTED. This includes items like, but not limited to, water bottles, storage containers, toys, kitchen ware, binders, shower curtains, and tarps.
Bring your confidential documents for shredding in a secure and environmentally friendly manner. • Limit 5 file boxes or paper bags per event. • Documents are securely shredded on-site. • No pre-shredded paper. • Arrive with your documents in the trunk/back of your vehicle. Stay in your vehicle while they are unloaded.
